Sarah's Hot Cocoa Recipe

After a long day of work, nothing is better a delightful hot cocoa recipe with a hint of vanilla can truly elevate this cozy drink to new levels of comfort and flavor.

Ingredients:

  1. 2 cups of milk (whole milk will give a richer flavor, but you can use any variety)

  2. 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

  3. 2 to 3 tablespoons sugar (adjust according to taste)

  4. A pinch of salt

  5. ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract (1 teaspoon of vanilla extract "for a stronger vanilla flavor")

  6. Whipped cream or marshmallows for topping (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Heat the Milk: In a medium saucepan, gently heat the milk over medium-low heat. Be careful not to boil it.

  2. Mix Cocoa and Sugar: In a small bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, sugar, and salt.

  3. Combine: Once the milk is warm, add the cocoa mixture to the saucepan. Stir continuously until the cocoa and sugar are completely dissolved and the mixture is smooth.

  4. Add Vanilla: Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. Serve: Pour the hot cocoa into mugs and top with whipped cream or marshmallows if desired.

  6. Some of my favorite optional Add-ins: For an extra touch of flavor, consider adding a cinnamon stick while heating the milk, or a pinch of chili powder for a spicy kick.

Enjoy this warm, comforting beverage on a chilly day or as a special treat. The vanilla adds a lovely, subtle sweetness that complements the rich chocolate flavor.
