Jeremiah's Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 3 cups of 'special occasions'

  • 1 cup of 'willpower to not eat them all in one sitting'

  • 3/4 cup of 'friends asking for the recipe'

  • 2 large 'promises to go to the gym tomorrow'

  • 1 teaspoon of 'it's a secret family recipe, sorry'

  • 2 cups of chocolate chips (or more, who's counting?)

Directions:


  1. Preheat your oven to 'when the mood strikes.'

  2. In a large bowl, mix 'special occasions' with 'willpower to not eat them all.' Stir in 'friends asking for the recipe.'

  3. Gradually add 'promises to go to the gym tomorrow.'

  4. Fold in the chocolate chips with a spatula of 'guilty pleasure.'

  5. Spoon the dough onto a baking sheet, spacing them out with 'I’ll just have one more.'

  6. Bake until golden brown or until you can't resist the smell anymore.

  7. Let cool, if you have the patience.

Note: Best enjoyed with a side of 'I’ll start my diet on Monday' and a tall glass of 'who cares, they’re delicious!'"

Ingredients:


  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)


Instructions:


  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy.

  3. Add Eggs: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually beat this mixture into the butter and sugar mixture.

  5. Add Chocolate Chips and Nuts: Stir in the chocolate chips and, if desired, the nuts.

  6. Prepare Cookie Sheets: Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.

  7. Bake: Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown.

  8. Cool: Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
